Richard III’s Canadian Connection
Richard III’s Nanoose Bay relatives must wait for high court decision on reburial. Leslie Ibsen of Nanoose Bay is a descendant of the family of England’s King Richard III, whose remains were unearthed at a parking lot in Leicester, England, in September 2012. “When he was exhumed, the minister of justice had a clause saying that he should be reinterred in Leicester and I think they’re trying to honour that,” Ibsen said. Another branch of the family is opposed to the burial being in Leicester, preferring he be buried in York. Read more here.
Bill 52, Quebec’s proposed “dying with dignity” law, set to pass
Bill 52, Quebec’s proposed “dying with dignity” law would set “new standards.” Quebec’s national assembly is expected to pass as early as this week proposed legislation to allow medical aid in dying, and would “legalize both physician-assisted suicide and voluntary euthanasia.”
