Bruce J. Collingwood
Bruce grew up in Edmonton and attended the University of Alberta where he received a Bachelor of Science degree (Zoology) in 1974, a Professional Diploma in Education in 1975, and his LLB in 1984. Before returning to University to obtain his law degree, Bruce was a teacher in Edmonton, teaching high school science. While teaching, Bruce discovered scuba diving and spent time studying at Bamfield marine centre. Bruce was called to the Alberta Bar in 1985 and has practised law in Edmonton since then.
Bruce and his wife Janis recently re-located to Victoria where Bruce is continuing his practice. He was called to the bar in B.C. in January of 2010. His practise involves a wide range of corporate and shareholder matters, commercial transactions, land development and conveyancing, and municipal law. Bruce was active with both the Canadian Bar Association and the Legal Education Society of Alberta instructing and chairing various sessions on business law over the years.
In 1993, Bruce was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. During his time as an MLA, Bruce served as opposition Caucus chair, Caucus whip, and member responsible for environmental protection.
Bruce and his wife love the west coast and enjoy spending time outdoors.
